Critical Overview Star Trek: Section 31 had a cool setup—Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou leading a secret spy crew to clean up a mess from her past—but it kind of misses the mark. Yeoh does her best and definitely brings some flair, but the movie doesn’t really feel like Star Trek. Instead of that usual smart, hopeful vibe Trek’s known for, it leans into snark, heist clichés, and gritty sci-fi stuff that feels more generic than fresh. It honestly plays more like a rushed TV pilot than a fully developed movie. The plot’s crammed, the new characters don’t get much depth, and the tone is all over the place—sometimes trying to be dark and edgy, other times cracking jokes that don’t land. If you're into espionage and sci-fi action, you might enjoy parts of it. But if you're looking for classic Trek with deep ideas and strong character work, this one’s probably not it.
