Synopsis: This is Arthur Curry’s full origin story. Half-human, half-Atlantean, Arthur is caught between two worlds. When his half-brother Orm plans to wage war on the surface world, Arthur must step forward, claim his birthright, and unite the underwater kingdoms to prevent catastrophe.

Overview: Aquaman is a bright, visually wild underwater epic that feels like a fantasy-adventure quest mixed with superhero action. Director James Wan leans into the comic-book roots with wild creatures, glowing cities, and huge battles. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s part of the fun. Jason Momoa gives Aquaman swagger and charm, redefining a character once mocked in pop culture.

Family Friendliness: This one’s fairly safe for older kids and teens. There’s a lot of action (tridents, monster fights, explosions), but it’s all pretty stylized and fantasy-like. No nudity, no intense language, and the romance is pretty tame. Some scary creatures might spook little ones, but the overall tone is adventurous and heroic.

Christian Perspective: Arthur’s journey is very much a “called hero” narrative—he starts reluctant, unsure of his worth, but steps into his destiny as a unifier and protector. It touches on ideas of reconciliation, leadership, and family legacy. There are also nods to self-sacrifice and standing for what’s right even when it’s hard. While not overtly spiritual, it presents good vs. evil in clear terms, and Arthur learns that true power comes with humility and purpose.
