Synopsis
This movie redefined Batman for a darker, edgier generation. Gotham City is being eaten alive by crime, and one mysterious vigilante—Batman—is starting to fight back. When mobster Jack Napier falls into a vat of chemicals and becomes the unhinged Joker, Gotham’s chaos reaches new heights. It’s Batman vs. the Clown Prince of Crime, with a lot of brooding, grappling hooks, and Prince music.

Overview
Tim Burton’s Batman is stylish, moody, and a total shift from the campy 1960s version. With gothic set design, haunting visuals, and a Batman who barely speaks but kicks a lot of butt, it set the tone for modern superhero movies. Jack Nicholson’s Joker steals the show, chewing scenery like it's candy. It’s iconic, weird, and pure Burton.

Family Friendliness
Not for young kids—this version is much darker than earlier Batman content. There’s stylized violence, disturbing imagery, and some mature themes. It’s fine for teens and up, especially those who can handle some creepy moments and Joker-fueled mayhem.

Christian Perspective
The movie dives into sin, justice, and identity. Bruce Wayne’s struggle with vengeance vs. virtue echoes Romans 12:19 and Matthew 5:44. The Joker represents the chaos of evil unchecked—"the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10). Batman’s moral code to not kill, even when he could, points toward restraint and justice with mercy (Micah 6:8). Still, it's more morally gray than the upright superhero image of old.
