Plot Summary:
Following the events of the original Poseidon Adventure, the S.S. Poseidon remains afloat. Tugboat captain Mike Turner (Michael Caine), accompanied by his second mate Wilbur (Karl Malden) and passenger Celeste Whitman (Sally Field), boards the ship to claim salvage rights. They are joined by Dr. Stefan Svevo (Telly Savalas) and his crew, who claim to be medical personnel. However, Svevo's true intent is to recover a shipment of plutonium. As they navigate the perilous ship, they encounter survivors and face numerous challenges, including explosions and rising waters. The group must work together to escape the doomed vessel.

Critics Review:
Beyond the Poseidon Adventure was widely panned by critics. Roger Ebert gave it one star, criticizing the performances and direction. Janet Maslin of The New York Times described it as "a dreary experience," and Gene Siskel labeled it "virtually the same story as the original disaster film," with "shoddily painted sets" and "dialog that could be written by a 1st-grader." Variety noted that the film "comes off as a virtual remake of the 1972 original, without that film's mounting suspense and excitement."

Christian Perspective:
The film lacks explicit Christian themes or moral lessons. It focuses more on survival and human interaction under duress rather than on spiritual or ethical considerations.

Family Friendliness:
Rated PG, the film contains perilous situations, explosions, and some violence. It may be suitable for older children and teens, but parental discretion is advised due to the intense scenes.
